Because Ursula K. LeGuin rocks (and my words don´t do her justice)

All that I might have been and couldn´t be. All the choices I didn´t make. All the things I lost and spent and wasted. I can give them back to the world. To the lives that haven´t been lived yet. That will be my gift back to the world that gave me the life I did live, the love I loved, the breath I breathed.”

Sabe aqueles livros que acabam e você queria que eles continuassem? Essa autora conseguiu escrever cinco deles e eles formam uma história só. Ainda tem um sexto livro de crônicas ligadas ao mundo imaginário criado por LeGuin, Earthsea, um mundo onde magia e dragões são coisas do dia-a-dia, mas que lidam com temas universais e por isso mesmo próximos à nossa realidade.

É interessante que a autora faz questão dos seus personagens principais serem homens e mulheres de fisionomia semelhante a índios norte-americanos ou negros, mas o faz sem ser aquela coisa politicamente correta chata (lógico que também há espaço para os brancos e, talvez os mais interessantes de todos, os dragões). O Earthsea Cycle de Ursula K. LeGuin é leitura recomendada para todos, provavelmente a melhor coisa de fantasia após o Tolkien.
